Five Star District becomes first Colorado district accepted into national network of innovative schools

On Tuesday, Sept. 23, Digital Promise, a national, independent nonprofit organization authorized by Congress to accelerate innovation in education, announced Adams 12 Five Star Schools as one of 11 new members, and Colorado’s first school district to be accepted into the League of Innovative Schools, a national coalition of school districts committed to innovation.

In a unanimous vote, the Adams 12 Five Star Schools Board of Education approved resolutions Wednesday, Aug. 27 to place bond and mill levy override questions on the November ballot.

The Five Star District will seek voter approval in November for a $15 million mill levy override (3I) and a $220 million bond (3J).

Five Star District students demonstrate gains in academic performance and growth

Growth in reading, writing and math highest in three years

Five Star students are making gains in academic performance and growth based on the state’s 2014 TCAP test results. TCAP stands for Transitional Colorado Assessment Program.

Adams 12 Five Star Schools outperformed the state when comparing results to 2013. The district saw increases in the number of students scoring proficient and advanced on 10 tests.
